Why We Choose to Use Paper Bags Instead of Plastic Bags?

In this modern day, everybody gradually realizes the importance of protecting our environment. Therefore, the government started to advocate the use of paper bags.
Nowadays, more and more people use the paper bag. Why should we use the paper bag? There are many reasons. Let us tell you simply as below.

First of all, using the paper bag can reduce the pollution in the world; it can reduce waste of using the plastic. Secondly, plastic can never decompose. Besides, if people casually throw the paper bags on the road after usage, it will produce a ton of rubbish. Next is that we can produce the paper bags which use the material that would not be harmful to the earth. For example, people can use the papers that are chopped from artificial forests. It efficiently reduces the amount we chop down every day. They are not the native forest in the earth. It can’t affect the earth. Forth, the paper bag looks more exquisite than plastic bags. If you use the paper bag to wrap your gift, it looks like more sincere and presentable. Fifth, using paper bags cause less pollution to the earth than the plastic bag as they can be recycled. Generally, plastic bags take much more effort to be recycled.

Therefore, it can produce much pollution than the paper bag. Last one is some plastic bags are unhealthy to our health. For example, using the plastic bags to pack food, it can cause some toxic reaction or chemicals that can harm our health.

In conclusion, it is a better and wiser choice to use the paper bag. Because it can not only reduce the pollution to earth, but it also can be recycled. If we want to do some merit and protect our earth or the society, then paper bags will be the sustainable way forward.

What is White Card & FBB ?

In last time, we talked abut What is white card & SBS ?
Today, we are going to talking about the other one type of white card, Folding Box Board (FBB), it is also used everywhere in our life.

Q. What is white card?
White card is a general designation of paper material made paper box.

Q. What is Folding Box Board?
Folding boxboard, also referred to as FBB or by the DIN Standard 19303 codes of GC or UC, is a paperboard grade made up of multiple layers of chemical and mechanical pulp.
FBB construction:
1 – Coating
2 – Bleached chemical pulp
3 – Mechanical pulp
4 – Unbleached/Bleached chemical pulp

Q. How FBB is made?
FBB Folding box board is a multi-ply board. A layer, or layers, made of
FBB construction
mechanical pulp is placed between layers of chemical pulp. Mechanical pulp may be stone-ground wood (GW), pressurized ground wood (PGW), thermo mechanical pulp (TMP) or chemi thermo mechanical pulp (CTMP). The top layer is bleached chemical pulp and the reverse layer may be bleached or unbleached chemical pulp. The top and reverse side may be coated with mineral pigments.

The combination of inner layers of mechanical pulp with outer layers of chemical pulp creates a strong and stiff sheet, taking advantage of the well-known I-beam phenomenon in physics. This is a low density material with high stiffness. Fully coated grades give excellent printing and visual impact. This is a virgin fibre paperboard with consistent purity for product safety.

The basis weight ranges from 200 to 450 GSM – Ideal for Food packaging, cigarettes cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and graphical applications.

Q. What is FBB common used?
The major end uses of folding box board are health and beauty products, frozen, chilled and other foods, confectioneries, pharmaceuticals, graphical uses and cigarettes.

Matte Lamination vs Gloss Lamination

What is Lamination?
Lamination is the technique of manufacturing a material in multiple layers, so that the composite material achieves improved strength, stability, sound insulation, appearance or other properties from the use of differing materials. A laminate is a permanently assembled object by heat, pressure, welding, or adhesives.

Laminating paper products, such as photographs, can prevent them from becoming creased, faded, water damaged, wrinkled, stained, smudged, abraded, or marked by grease or fingerprints. Photo identification cards and credit cards are almost always laminated with plastic film. Boxes and other containers are also laminated using a UV coating.

In essence, lamination makes the product ‘ready’ to be put into the hands of consumers. You can consider two types of lamination: Matte and Gloss.

Whether it applies to the surface of a paper bag, book cover, label, or packaging box, lamination enhances the visual quotient and tactile feel of the product. It also serves as a protective layer to resist scratches and unexpected damages.

Gloss vs Matte

What is Matte Lamination?
An easy way to ascertain if the bag or packaging box is matte laminated is by observing if light reflects off the surface. If it doesn’t, you’re looking at Matte lamination!

Next, assess the aesthetic properties of the surface. Does it look sober (no sheen) yet elegant and luxurious? Are the colors a bit muted and is the depth of color somewhat lacking?

These characteristics define matte laminate. While the overall effect of matte laminated surfaces is somewhat understated, it is palpably high-end and sophisticated.

What is Gloss lamination?
In contrast to matte lamination, gloss has a lustrous quality as light bounces off the surface. The effect is that of vibrancy, better image contrast and a richer depth of color.

Gloss laminated bags and magazines draw attention to themselves; in this respect, they can be viewed as more showy to their subdued matte counterparts.

For this reason, they may lend themselves well to brochures, cover photos, perfume boxes and book spines. Gloss lamination can refine a product in a different way from matte lamination.

Which of the two should you choose?
The answer to ‘which one is better’ must be prefaced by ‘what will the lamination be used for?’ to make an informed choice. As discussed above, each has its pros and cons; depending on the application, the drawbacks may not matter or be moot.

In fact, you can consider a ‘best of both worlds’ scenario. For instance, applying a matte laminate over a glossy label can make barcode scanning easier and allow users to handwrite over it when such a need arises.

Some may view matte lamination as being unexciting. Adding glossy laminate over a matte label can provide a lustrous patina and a smoother look.

The History of Paper Bags

Paper bags are bags made of paper; usually they are brown kraft paper or white kraft paper. Commonly used for shopping, it is convenient and excellent to print and promote individual branding on the bag. There are so many paper bags in our life, but who knows when was the first paper bag used?

In 1852, Francis Wolle, a schoolteacher, invented the first machine to mass-produce paper bags. Wolle and his brother patented the machine and founded the Union Paper Bag Company.
In 1871, inventor Margaret E. Knight designed a machine that could create flat-bottomed paper bags, which could carry more than the previous envelope-style design.[citation needed]
In 1883, Charles Stilwell patented a machine that made square-bottom paper bags with pleated sides, making them easier to fold and store. This style of bag came to be known as the S.O.S., or "Self-Opening Sack".
In 1912, Walter Deubener, a grocer in St. Paul, Minnesota, used cord to reinforce paper bags and add carrying handles. These "Deubener Shopping Bags" could carry up to 75 pounds at a time, and became quite popular, selling over a million bags a year by 1915. Paper bags with handles later became the standard for department stores, and were often printed with the store's logo or brand colors.
Plastic bags were introduced in the 1970s, and thanks to their lower cost, they eventually replaced paper bags as the bag of choice for grocery stores. With the trend towards phasing out lightweight plastic bags, though, some grocers and shoppers have switched back to paper bags. It is also much more environmentally friendly.
In 2015, the world's largest paper shopping bag was made in the UK and recorded by Guinness World Records.

Nowadays, people concern about environment problems. All countries are starting to reduce, even prohibit using plastic bags.  Please follow us and use paper bags in the future to protect our earth!

What Is White Card & SBS ?

Q. What is white card?
White card is a general designation of paper material made paper box.
And in this article, we are going to talk about a type of white card, Solid Bleached Sulphate (SBS)

Q. What is SBS paper board mean in the printing and packaging?
SBS, or Solid bleached board (SBB), is the highest quality and most expensive paper board substrate. It is produced from bleached virgin wood pulp.

It can easily be cut, creased, hot foil stamped and embossed. Its other properties, such as being hygienic and pure with no smell and taste, make it usable for packaging aroma and flavor sensitive products such as chocolate, cigarettes and cosmetics.

Common used of SBS are health and beauty packaging, pharmaceutical packaging and frozen food packaging.

Q. How SBS is made?
This grade is made purely from bleached chemical pulp and usually has a mineral or synthetic pigment coated top surface in one or more layers (C1S) and often also a coating on the reverse side (C2S). It is a medium density board with good printing properties for graphical and packaging end uses and is perfectly white both inside and out.
SBB (C2S) construction:
1 - Coating
2 - Bleached chemical pulp
1 - Coating
Not drawn to scale
The surface brightness is 90 % ISO – top surface roughness is less than 1.2 microns PPS – Hunter Gloss of top surface more than 75 %

SBS– Available in 200 to 600 GSM – Suitable for all types of Printing Process – Considered as premium grades for packaging and graphical purposes – Suitable for packing aroma and flavor sensitive products – In general SBS are superior when purity good appearance and runnability of the packaging material are required.

What is CMYK?

  What is CMYK?
CMYK, it’s a term that is commonly used in printing but you’ll be surprised how many people don’t know what it actually means. CMYK refers to the four inks used in some color printing: cyan, magenta, yellow, and key (black).

Color printing typically uses four ink colors; Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black. The first three letters are self explanatory, but where does the K come from? Here’s the technical part, the ‘K’ stands or key, because in four color printing , Cyan, Magenta and Yellow printing plates are carefully keyed or aligned with the KEY of the black key plate. It has also been said that the ‘K’ comes from last letter in ‘Black’ and was chosen because ‘B’ was already used as Blue in RGB.
The CMYK color model is based off the fact that surfaces appear to be certain colors because of the wavelengths of light they absorb and reflect. For example, things that appear to be red will only reflect red light. Objects that appear to be white will reflect all wavelengths of light, and objects that appear black absorb all wavelengths (which is why you should avoid wearing black in the summer to stay cool). As a subtractive color system, CMYK color takes advantage of this phenomenon by depositing inks on a surface in order to selectively absorb certain colors of light. The light that isn’t absorbed by the inks is reflected into an observer’s eye, which results in them seeing the intended color.
The differences between CMYK and Pantone should be considered when deciding which coloring process to use. For consistent branding and logos, Pantone is a better choice. For print jobs where exact color isn’t a concern, CMYK is the best choice. It all depends on the nature of the print job and budget constraints. Talk to one of our friendly specialist to find out which option is best for you.

What is Pantone?

What is Pantone? What is it used for?

The Pantone Matching System (PMS) is a color standardization system that helps in color identification and matching. It uses the Pantone numbering system to identify colors, and through this numbering system printer, equipment manufacturers can match colors without having to contact one another. The Pantone color numbers consist of a three or four digit number followed by the letter C, U or M, which stands for "coated," "uncoated" and "matte," respectively. The color palette in the PMS consists of about 1,114 colors. This color matching system is very helpful in avoiding color inconsistencies between the various types of print and digital media.
*The PMS was developed by Pantone LLC (Carlstadt, NJ, USA), which was acquired in 2007 by X-Rite, Inc. (Grand Rapids, MI, USA).*

There are many different colors matching systems useable today, but till now, the most popular in the printing industry is still the Pantone Matching System, or we call it, PMS. PMS is a "solid-color" matching system; it is primarily used for specifying second or third colors in printing, meaning colors apart from black. Obviously, one can certainly print a one color piece using a PMS color and no black all.

Even though Pantone is a great option in certain cases, it doesn't always make sense to incorporate it into your printing project. Using spot colors is usually more expensive than process inks due to the extra production costs involved in washing up and changing out the ink in the press, it needs more manpower to focus on the machine as well, particularly when we use more than one or two PMS colors depending on the printer's manufacturing equipment and processes. Since CMYK process printing uses the same base colors all the time, it's a more cost effective solution.

General Manager’s Messages

General Manager’s Messages

It is 15 years since the establishment of Syncmen Enterprise Corp.
We have been adhering to the three core principles of the company: "Fast and organized work efficiency", "Beyond expectations of service" and "Provision for consistent quality of products" on developing overseas markets and serve our customers.

After going through the situation of international crude oil rose sharply, China's plastic bag factory was diverted to operate a paper bag factory. While the periods of US financial crisis in 2009 and also the European debt especially Greece in 2010, Syncmen still grow year by year. With more than 10 million paper bags, which are about 100 containers fruitful result and continuing to be the third place of exporters in Taiwan. It is not by luck, instead we are working meticulous and thinking carefully regarding how to provide competitive pricing or service; putting ourselves in customers' shoes and cooperating with a strong based supplier have always been our working principle.

Besides, I thanks to my colleagues who have grown and worked with me as well as the strategic alliance partners who are always highly-committed.

Syncmen is original an e-commerce company. From the very beginning, the development of overseas markets is the use of web platform and search engine till today.

Syncmen CEO Angel in Factory
As transnational e-commerce has been booming in couples of years, I had been invited to share my progress of that since last year. It took places from north to south of Alibaba’s Branch, including Taichung, Tainan and Kaohsiung. Besides, the gatherings held as a director of E-sun Entrepreneurs Association, to answer members’ questions on trade practices.

In addition to those sharing, I also participated in the top 10 e-commerce competition of Alibaba. It is all because I want to help those whom have talented among this industry.
However, to uphold this original intention, it has opened up my perspective and skills as well. For sharing the experience of mine, I have to recall our own working principal and logical thinking. Every time I experienced, the more deepening thought and ability I got. Even the improvements of strengthens and weaknesses. That is, the more thoughts I share the greater progress I receive.

In recent years, the industrial upgrading and it is adopted factories localization in Eastern Europe and neighboring countries. We have faced with several competitions for paper bag markets.
Therefore, Syncmen began developing the Middle East market four years ago and now started to develop Japanese market to respond to the situation. I hope my strategy will be effective this year.

The History of Syncmen

Since she was 16 years old, she had a dream to be a trader and run her own business, who is she? She is the director of Syncmen, Angel Chang. When she finished her studies, she did not hesitate to start working. Her first job was as an accountant assistant. She went through a lot of experiences, built up her own business and established Syncmen Enterprise Corporation; since then it has been for 15 years.

Why she had the chance to start her business? The reason dates back to her husband. Her husband and his friends wanted to establish a company, so she quit her job in order to help her husband. June 2003, they spend TWD$ 250,000 to establish this company. However, it was not as easy as they thought. They faced some difficulties and she had lost TWD$ 100,000. She tried to find the reason and did some investigation. Finally, she found the solution and cooperated with other factories again. That time, there were only 7 people in her company.
The business is going well year on year. Syncmen do have some customer like as Adidas, Subway, Newlook etc… Before they start having these kind of customer’s bags, they need to make a fair contract between them t protect each other’s interest. In addition, Syncmen have FSC certification, which serves to prove their resource of material. They do care about surrounding problems as well.
E-Commerce is rising. Syncmen has also been using Alibaba platform for a long period of time. Angel always finds different ways to keep up with the ever changing market. Syncmen is Angel’s house. She insists on working 13 to 15 hours per day and 6 days per week. Syncmen created their website in 2006. In 2008, they attend overseas exhibitions. Having updated their website in 2013, it has brought in a huge pool of customers. As we know, Google always develops new way to create more markets and chances to businesses. New product “Google AdWords” Angel also learned this project. Syncmen always finds more and more ways to develop their business. This is the reason why they are so successful.
